Installation instructions [WooCommerce]

Before you start

Make sure your store meets the minimum requirements:

  • WordPress: 6.4+
  • WooCommerce: 6.0+ (installed and activated)
  • PHP: 8.0+
  • A server with HTTPS / SSL enabled is required for security reasons
  • An Alter Product account is required (you will use Access Key + Access Token)

Important: the plugin runs the customizer, configurator or viewer in an isolated iframe, so it does not modify WooCommerce core checkout behavior.

Installation & setup steps

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
  2. In WordPress Admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for Alter Product – 3D Configurator for WooCommerce, install it, and activate the plugin.* Optional: upload the ZIP manually and activate it.
  3. In WordPress Admin, open Alter Product and click Connect in Auto Connect.* Optional manual setup: create API keys on the Alter Product API Settings page, copy the Access Key and Access Token, then add your store domain in Embedding Settings.
  4. Follow the displayed installation steps to complete the configuration.
  5. Create first design - Go to the WooCommerce product edit page. In the Alter Product tab, create a new design (or select an existing one). The design will be mapped to the product. Define variants that match the WooCommerce product, optionally activate the Customizer, and save the project.

After setup

Once configured, you can:

  • Manage assets, including Products, Variants, Mockups, Graphic Library, Logos, Design Templates, Backgrounds, Environments, and Fonts
  • Import projects from Alter Product storage
  • Create and manage product designs
  • Show a button for the selected e-commerce tool on public WooCommerce shop pages or product pages
  • Embed Viewer / Configurator / Customizer on WooCommerce product pages or WordPress pages
  • Map WooCommerce products to Alter Product designs
  • Let customers personalize products (text, images, layouts, QR codes, etc.)
  • Synchronize selected configuration to the WooCommerce cart

Troubleshooting

  • API test fails: verify Access Key / Access Token and your server connectivity to https://alterproduct.com/public-api Alter Product → Status.
  • Problems downloading assets: go to Alter Product → Status and make sure your server meets the requirements in the Server resources table.
  • Iframe is blank / no communication: make sure your store domain is added in Alter Product E-commerce Settings → Integration, or verify that your server uses HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate.
  • Permalinks issue: if Customizer, Configurator, or Viewer pages show Not found, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes to refresh rewrite rules.
  • Add to cart not working: confirm product mapping is complete and the embedded tool has e-commerce actions enabled.
