Installation instructions [WooCommerce]

Before you start

Make sure your store meets the minimum requirements:

  • WordPress: 6.4+
  • WooCommerce: 6.0+ (installed and activated)
  • PHP: 8.0+
  • An Alter Product account is required (you will use Access Key + Access Token)

Important: the plugin runs the customizer, configurator or viewer in an isolated iframe, so it does not modify WooCommerce core checkout behavior.

Installation & setup steps

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New and install Alter Product – 3D Configurator for WooCommerce (or upload the ZIP to /wp-content/plugins/).
  3. Click Activate plugin.
  4. Go to Alter Product API Settings page and create API keys.
  5. In Wordpress Open Alter Product → Settings → API and paste your Access Key and Access Token, then click Save.
  6. Go to Alter Product Embedding Settings and add your store domain (e.g. https://yourwebsite.com) to the list.
  7. In Wordpress Open Alter Product → Settings → Embedding set embedding pages.
  8. Go to the product edit page in WooCommerce and use the Alter Product space to map UI map WooCommerce products to Alter Product items and set up style.
  9. In Wordpress Page Editor add the Alter Product blocks / embed to your product templates (depending on your theme).

After setup

Once configured, you can:

  • Embed Viewer / Configurator / Customizer on WooCommerce product pages or Wordpress pages
  • Map WooCommerce products to Alter Product models
  • Let customers personalize products (text, images, layouts, QR codes, etc.)
  • Synchronize selected configuration to the WooCommerce cart

Troubleshooting

  • API test fails: verify Access Key / Access Token and your server connectivity to https://alterproduct.com/public-api Alter Product → Status.
  • Iframe is blank / no communication: make sure your store domain is added in Alter Product E-commerce Settings → Integration.
  • Permalinks issue: confirm WordPress permalinks Settings → Permalinks are not set to Plain (sometimes just clicking save changes solves issues).
  • Add to cart not working: confirm product mapping is complete and the embedded tool has e-commerce actions enabled.
